<p>Firstly, stand with both feet on the floor and your body square on to the audience.  Most of the meaning of what you are saying is being transmitted via the way your stand, your facial expression and the tone of your voice, and is unconsciously picked up by your audience.  Standing squarely and firmly on your feet communicates confidence which shifting your weight around does not.</p>
<p>You have to get excited to get the class worked up and learning happens best in a high-energy environment.  You might have to take five minutes in the back room before you start, to do a jig, or clap your hand, or play your favorite pop song at top volume.  Whatever gets you worked up and ready to rock and roll is the right thing to do.</p>
<p>Get your audience warmed up before you get to the real meat of your performance.  Don&#8217;t just start right in with the main facts are &#8230; and here we go. Play some music while you are setting up your things or have a question and answer session about what their expectations are.  Play around a little, get people joking and laughing and then bring them down for a lesson.  </p>
<p>Before you can get people to listen to you when you are selling you need to have a connection with them.  The same is true is a classroom situation.  You are selling to salespeople so they should be like you, people&#8217;s persons.  Utilize this to build a rapport and your lessons will appear to be far more informative and convincing than starting off with a cold uninvolved group.</p>
<p>Keep making eye contact with the people in your audience.  Your brain takes in more information when your eyes focus on many different things.  Do it too quickly and you will overload your brain and forget where you are in your lesson.  Focus for short spaces of time on a person or a group and complete the sentence or thought you are busy with before moving onto the next person or group.</p>
<p>What you will also find by using these simple techniques is that you stay in touch with the participants and you will know intuitively when they are tired and a break would be good.  </p>

Recommendations from other people in your industry will get you a few candidates but it is worth sitting in on a few classes at other training venues to get the type of trainer you want.  An exceptional trainer will give your team exceptional results, and this is what you want.  </p>
<p>Your trainer needs to be providing you with useful, energizing, valuable, refreshing information that is presented in a way that is truly eye-opening and will be well received by the audience.</p>

<p>A good trainer makes even the not so obvious seem simple.  It is not just a matter of giving clear and practical advice that the participant can walk out of the office and use immediately.  You need to be getting content that gives your people that Aha moment!  </p>
<p>Asking good questions is about forcing the client to think of an answer.  The trick is to ask the question so that they think of the answer you want them to have!  </p>
<p>Even concepts that appear to be old hat can presented in such a way that their value is apparent again.</p>

Don&#8217;t chase after people until they get a firm yes or no.  It is more effective to develop a set of criteria that prospective clients must meet before you invest time in them.  You cannot control everything in an sales interaction but you can control how you distribute your time.  </p>
<p>Your qualifying criteria must be more than having the authority to make the decision, control over budgets or the time to see you.  It also requires the buyer to be motivated to buy.  The best way to evaluate whether someone is motivated is to find out what their problems are and show them how you can best solve these problems.  </p>
<p>You will not always have a natural rapport with someone you are selling to, although it is essential to the sale to have this connection.  You must learn to operate outside your comfort zone by mimicking the speech patterns and behaviors of the people you are selling to so that you are able to connect with a wider variety of people.</p>
<p>Voicemail must become a friend since it will be what you encounter when cold calling more than 70% of the time.  Spend some time preparing a focused voicemail that illustrates one key benefit to the client and leave a series of these over a period of days for the key decision-maker and you will have more returned calls.</p>
<p>Watch out that your presentations about your great product and wonderful company is not putting your clients to sleep.  Focus on stories from your most successful sales that draw people in and hold their attention.</p>
<p>Instead of focusing on a grand closing strategy, aim for little commitments along the way.  Each time you get the client to focus on a need or problem, get them to express a small commitment to the product at that stage.  By the end of the process you will not have to through all your skills into closing the deal, it will be already 90% of the way there.</p>
<p>Stay lighthearted and don&#8217;t get bogged down in the pressure of getting as many sales as possible.  If you handle the meeting correctly, the client will be more focused on matching your product solutions up to his own problems and will close the deal for you.</p>
